Timothy A. Kulp, Esquire
Timothy A. Kulp received his Juris Doctorate from Chicago-Kent College of Law of the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1977. He graduated with honors and was a member of the Law Review. He received a B.A. with a major in Economics from Washington and Jefferson College in 1973. Timothy has a Preeminent 5 out of 5 AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell National Law Directory. Tim has been selected as a Pennsylvania SuperLawyer for 2013, as well as one of the Top Rated Lawyers in Transportation Law in the Nation. Tim serves as a hearing officer for the Disciplinary Board of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
After graduating from law school, Tim remained in Chicago and spent the first six years of his career in practice before the Illinois state and federal courts. (He still maintains his Illinois license.) While in Chicago, Mr. Kulp represented the insurance industry in all aspects of litigation from both an “in-house” perspective as well as in private practice. He successfully argued cases before the Illinois Appellate Court and the Illinois Supreme Court.
In the mid-1980's, Tim returned to his native Pennsylvania. Tim has worked as “in-house” counsel for SEPTA, Cigna and was the managing attorney of the Philadelphia office of Royal Insurance Company for almost 10 years. Prior to joining his wife in private practice, Tim’s practice centered on representing and advising various syndicates of Lloyds of London and their insureds and various regional insurance carriers.
Tim has mastered the art of trial advocacy and has practiced as a civil litigation trial attorney representing litigants in areas of personal injury, property damage, product liability, as well as commercial claims, construction litigation and subrogation. He has been retained for coverage disputes and opinions. He also has a broad base of experience in the defense of bus, cab and trucking related accidents, and, is often asked to represent “target” defendants involving all types of personal injury claims arising from premises liability, assaults and dram shop matters. He has significant experience in construction claims and property damage particularly resulting from fire and water losses including subrogation. Over the last number of years, Mr. Kulp has briefed and argued numerous cases before the Pennsylvania Appellate Courts and the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr. Kulp is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, the Supreme Court of Illinois, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the Northern District of Illinois. Tim is member of the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel. Tim has also been a guest lecturer for Pennsylvania’s continuing educational requirements for lawyers.
